Elena Cortés, historian, obtained her doctorate in Medieval History in 2000. For a time she worked as a Geography and History teacher at Secondary School and developing school texts, both printed and electronic.
In 2001 Elena established her first non-researcher relationship with archives, working in the State Archives of Spain Reprography Service.
In 2002 she became a member of the State Archivists, Librarians and Archaeologists Body. As an archivist trainee she collaborated in ISAAR(CPF) Standard Spanish translation. Between 2003 and 2010 she has led the Reprography and Digitisation Service in the State General Administration Archives.
Since July 2010 Elena leads the Description and Preservation Department in the State General Administration Archives.
She has been the Spanish State Archives representative in several working groups about electronic documents and reprography, such as: the Member States' Expert Group on Digitisation and Digital Preservation of the European Commission and the AENOR (Standardization and Certification Spanish Agency) CTN 50/SC1 ISO.
Since 2008 she is the Spanish representative in the DLM Forum Executive Committee. She has collaborated in MoReq2 Spanish translation and Chapter 0.
